Visiting Witch’s Rock During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Joe Walsh • 9 de diciembre de 2020

Costa Rica opened it’s borders to the entire World on November 1st 2020 and the guest uptick has got our spirits soaring. Furthermore, there is no negative COVID test required for entry so all you’ll need to get into Costa Rica is travel insurance (we recommend Sagicor ) and fill out the Health Pass 48 hours before your departure flight. Even though Costa Rica has opened its boarders completely, there were only 36,044 arrivals by air in November 2020 as compared to 191,346  in November 2019.  Regardless, it’s been amazing  seeing familiar faces from the USA and Canada and we’ve maintained about 60% – 80% occupancy at our  beachfront site which our guests have actually loved.

Quick Tip : Ask for room upgrades when you arrive to camp. Chances are we’ll have a some premium rooms available. We’ll happily hook you up.

Many future and potential guests are wondering what protocols we’re taking at the camp in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s what you can expect:

  • 50% van occupancy for surf tours and airport transportation.
  • All employees in surf shop and restaurants with masks
  • Mandatory mask for everyone in vans.
  • Mandatory masks for everyone in surf shop
  • Seminars being held in open air restaurant (mask optional).
  • Hand washing and sanitizing stations throughout camp.
  • Temperature checks daily to our staff.
  • Social distancing (we are not enforcing this, but please use your best judgment on site).
  • Bars and restaurants in Tamarindo close at 9pm.

We are taking the pandemic very seriously because we want to keep our staff and guests safe. We’re running the surf camp as normally as possible, all things considered. If you’re looking to plan your next Costa Rica vacation, contact us at 1-888-318-7873 or email us at reservations@witchsrocksurfcamp.com

PS . Waves have been firing and the crowds have been really mellow.

You don’t paddle out at Ollie’s Point because it’s convenient. You go because when it’s on, it feels like Costa Rica handed you a fast, clean runway and said, “Go.” The catch is that Ollie’s is not a “just show up” wave. It’s a mission – tides, swell direction, wind, boat timing, and a lineup […] The post Ollie’s Point Guided Surf Tour: What to Expect appeared first on Witch's Rock Surf Camp.

The moment that changes everything usually isn’t the first pop-up. It’s the second one – when your kid paddles back out smiling, you’re not checking the clock, and nobody’s hungry, sunburned, or overwhelmed. You don’t fly to Costa Rica for “pretty good” waves. If you’re already comfortable in solid surf, the real win is efficiency: paddling out at the right break, at the right tide, with the right board under your feet – and not wasting a single prime window because a road washed out, the wind switched, […] The post Advanced Surf Tours in Costa Rica That Deliver appeared first on Witch's Rock Surf Camp.

You know the feeling – you’re paddling out confidently, catching plenty of waves, and you can even make sections… but your surfing still looks nothing like it feels. In your head, you’re carving. On the wave, you’re kind of surviving. That’s the intermediate plateau, and it’s exactly why intermediate surf coaching with video analysis is […] The post Video Surf Coaching for Intermediates That Works appeared first on Witch's Rock Surf Camp.
